The German company Bestsail in cooperation with their partner VPM Yachtcharter took on the pontoons and infrastructure of the former Sunsail charter base "blue lagoon" in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe. 100 metre length of pontoon is now additionally available and presently the new offices are being moved into. In the marina Bas de Fort 28 yachts can be offered altogether by VPM - Bestsail now. Bookings are possible via Barone Yachting (www.barone.de) and all Bestsail agents.

VPM Bestsail expands Caribbean offer For the season of 2011 the yacht charter partners Bestsail and VPM are expanding their fleets in the Caribbean Antilles. As an addition to the bases in Tortola, Martinique and St. Martin they are now leading the base 'blue lagoon' on Guadeloupe (ex-Sunsail). The fleet which is stationed in the Marina Bas de Fort, Pointe-à-Pitre is moving and therefore 100 metre additional pontoon length are now available. 14 catamarans amongst which there are two Lagoon 450's, and several yachts ranging from the Ocèanis 54 to the small Sun Odyssey 36i complete the fleet. Deutsche Charterfirma erschließt interessantes Revier im Westen der Insel Crews, die vor Sizilien auf Chartertörn gehen, haben meist nur ein Ziel: die Vulkaninseln um Stromboli, Lipari und Vulcano. Dabei gibt es vor der Nordwestspitze Siziliens ein mindestens genauso reizvolles Revier: den Ägadischen Archipel um Marettimo und Favignana und Levanzo.... Berths for Singles Around 11.2 million singles live in Germany. With an amount of 34 per cent of singles in major cities with over 500.00 inhabitants they make up a third of the population. Amongst the singles one rarely finds a frustrated stay-at-home. The majority is on the lookout for partners and therefore pretty adventuresome. So is it that the demand for cabin-charters in Germany rose 15 per cent in the past year. Lucie Barone, holder of the homonymous company has a plausible explanation for this: There is no other means of travelling with so much freedom on the sea, and the chance of getting to know new people, like on a cabin-charter on a sailing yacht. In order to be ready for the coming season Barone Yachting adopted 5 new cabin-charter offers into the programme. One can choose between Malta, the dreamlike Seychelles, the british virgin islands, celeb-island St. Barth and the lonely Grenadines. The yachts are filled with a maximum of eight guests. Other than on cruise liners, the lifestyle is a casual one and the small yachts can reach even the smallest of bays and ports, afar from common tourist-trails. But the cruise is not short off service either: the skipper ensures the save course and the hostess for food and drink. No previous knowledge about the sea or sailing is necessary. Active sailing is possible but absolutely voluntary. The guests are meant to enjoy the trip and are not sentenced to work on deck. New ships under Caribbean sun The Caribbean specialised charter operator VPM is making the fleet which consists of 70 yachts younger again. Almost all boats are built 2004-2009. According to the firm itself the German agency therefore has the most modern fleet in the area. The latest ships are of the type Sun Odyssey 54 DS Cyclades 50 as well as Salina 48 (catamaran). In December the brand new Oceanis 54 and Sun Odyssey 44 and apart from that yachts are also available in Antigua now. Further bases are on Martinique, St. Martin, Totola and Guadeloupe. Das Yachtcharterunternehmen Bestsail wird in der kommenden Saison eine zusätzliche Basis in der neuen Marina Kastela zwischen Trogir und Split einrichten. Bestsail: New Bestsail-base in Kastela The charter operator will establish a new base in Kastela between Split and Trogir for the coming season. Twelve new yachts shall be positioned there. Currently Bestsail maintains bases in Slovenia, as well as in Croatia in Pomer, on the south corner of Istria, in the Marina Dalmacija few kilometres southeast of Zadar , in Split and Dubrovnik. By now Bestsail is one of the largest charter operators and keeps about 200 yachts in the Mediterranean and further yachts in the Seychelles, the Caribbean and the South Seas. Perhaps Bestsail will establish a base in the Dominican Republic for the coming winter. Probably the decision will be made before the Interboot in Friedrichshafen. Corsairs, Kinnie and Canons With the wind through the Mediterranean middle ages in front of Arfica's coast: Malta, Gozo and Comino offer a feast for both eye and tongue. You feel like the red corsair as the canons rumble while you manoeuvre your way out of the Grand Harbour. The shot however, is neither meant for you nor the eleven metre catamaran which you chartered for two days from Bestsail. It is noon in Malta, it always gets loud there with the traditional salute on the old fortification walls of the capital Valletta. A strong northwest breeze grips the 77 square metre sailing surface and the Mahé gains speed so that it runs under 18 knots only minutes later. With the south course and speed retained, you could arrive in Africa by midnight. But you prefer 'Cisk Lager' instead of dates, the Maltese beer which you think about opening this night when anchoring in Gozo, Malta's neighbouring island. Multiple yellow 6-packs of the drink are piled on top of each other on the spacious pantry which is made out of light maple. 'It is advisable to order the first provisions in advance' Frederic Brenneisen, the director of the Bestsail base in Vittoriosa recommends. In the marina itself there is no major supermarket but a small baker from which you bought the Hobz biz-zejt from which you are taking a bite this second. Get out the Dinghy and move to the sandy beach with a bottle of Kinnie at hand. 'Kinnie' is made out of bitter oranges and wormwood. It has a sweet/ascerbic taste and can be seen as a kind of national lemonade. If only all names here were so easy to remember. The fish restaurant on Gozo which you will soon be heading to is called 'Il-Kcina tal Barrakka' but some people just call it 'Sammy's'. Soon later you enjoy a fried mackerel - Maltese Lampuki, two glasses of Bajtra the national cactus liqueur and the view over the Mgarr harbour. As you anchor for the night in Dwejra Bay which is 10 nautical miles further, you hear a curious creeching. 'Can easily be mistaken as the screaming of an infant' Frederic Brenneisen has warned you previously. That you remember. Als zweiter größerer Anbieter verlegt der zur deutschen Bestsail-Kette gehörende Anbieter VPM eine kleine Flotte von Monohulls und Kats in die Grand Harbour Marina bei Valletta.... Cocktail Malta In the previous summer many people might have thought of starting to sail. Therefore Barone Yachting gives the opportunity to first-timers to smell the air of the sea in early and post season with specialised cabin cruises. On a one week cabin cruise around Malta for example. The journey begins in the romantic capital Valletta and continues eastward to Marsaxlokk for a visit to the popular Sunday market.
